WHO THE SHOCK IS MIGUEL O'HARA? as per the fact that his series is titled 'spider-man 2099', miguel is the spider-man of 2099. due to time travel shenanigans, his origin's a little all over the place, but basically: as a geneticist for the alchemax corporation, he was involved in researching a way of imprinting genetic codes into human physiology. after the death of a human test subject, miguel sought to quit alchemax, SHIT HAPPENED, and now 50% of his dna is spider.
the remaining 50% is split between him trying to be a decent guy and him just being a sarcastic, sardonic dick, tbh.
as a note: miguel is still quite abrasive, blunt and short-tempered, in spite of his determination to "not be as much of an uncaring jerk" — so like, i won't be offended by negative cr or negative reactions to miguel IC, and i ask that you don't take any ICly antagonistic remarks as a reflection of my OOC feelings.
as a note, if you're wondering who the fuck LYLA is, she's he's holographic assistant. she looks like marilyn monroe (because he's still pretty hung up on his ex).
in terms of CANON POINT, i prefer to play from the 90s run or the 2014 run (aka before secret wars) — but i'm familiar with the 2015 run and the 2019 reboot, so if there's a canon point you'd prefer, just lmk and i'll roll with it.
abilities
MIGUEL is a skilled geneticist and reasonably skilled with technology, depending on when it's from — if it's from 2099 (and after), he's going to hold his hands up and admit he's not the best person to ask (decent enough, but not a tech genius). if it's from the 20th century? he'll be more than alright.
due to his spider dna, he has red eyes (see below for details), as well as retractable talons on his hands and feet that allow him to climb walls (note: he is not sticky). he also has elongated canine teeth that secrete a paralysing venom.
as SPIDER-MAN he does not have a spider-sense, but what he does have is super strength, speed and agility; as well as durability and an increased healing factor. he also has accelerated vision (yeah, he can "zoom in" on things that are far away, alright) and the ability to see perfectly in the dark. this does mean he's incredibly light sensitive, so outside of the costume, he's almost constantly seen wearing tinted, reactive glasses — the lenses are predominately yellow, fwiw.
he has spinnerets on both of his forearms that allow him to produce organic webbing identical to spider silk.
PERMISSIONS + PREFERENCES
— TAGGING + BACKTAGGING I'm based in the uk (gmt) which means that if you're not in europe, I'm probably going to be tagging at some weird times and there may be a delay in tags (even text spam soz my dudes). consequently, this means that as far as backtagging goes: always, yes, and forever — however if it's something that leans towards being time-sensitive, I'm more than willing to work out details.
— in terms of SHIPPING open to all canon ships; otherwise i'm happy to see where threads develop and run with it. i don't have any hard nos beyond, like, miguel/tyler or something (but who even plays from 2099?). if it's out of my comfort zone, i'll let you know.
— FOURTH-WALLING : in a universe with deadpool and gwen poole... that is to say: to a degree, go for it, but let's keep it fun for all involved. I'll let you know if you're taking it too far.
— THREADJACKING : private posts and inboxes are a no-go, but otherwise this is probably a case-by-case kind of thing — as with fourth walling, let's keep it fun, yeah?
— TRIGGERS for me, personally, are minimal. I'll let you know if I'm uncomfortable with anything.
— PHYSICAL : violence and affection are fine (miguel's a fucking superhero, c'mon), but communication is obvs super important. for anything that seems like it may need discussing beforehand, please do get in touch. to reiterate: on an OOC level, I'm not opposed to either and on an IC level, miguel will absolute expect a degree of violence and number of physical altercations in his life.
in terms of affection, miguel's reaction will depend on who he's interacting with and their (ic) history.
